What is FUNancial Freedom?

What is FUNancial Freedom?

Hello!

Whether you’re a parent, a grandparent, or an aunt or uncle, we want to help your child or teen to gain mastery over a subject matter that terrifies most adults.
Understanding Money
As parents, we can’t ignore this any longer.
With everything happening in the world right now, I can’t help but wonder: If my kids were adults, would they be OK?
Right now, 22 million Americans have applied for unemployment.
Even before COVID-19, did you know that more than 1 in 3 workers had less than $1,000 saved?
So… why aren’t they teaching finance in schools? Before college, I never had a class on managing, saving and investing money.
I wish I did!
This Wednesday, the founder of a company called FUNancial Freedom is hosting an online presentation teaching children and teens how to become financially smart.
Here’s the link:
https://katemulvey--funancial.thrivecart.com/funancial-freedom-membership-internal/
Will you take an hour or so to join in and watch?
It’s something we can do – right now – to make a difference.
If anything, this virus reminds us how important it is to give our children financial freedom.
The aim of FUNancial Freedom is to teach children and teens to become financially smart. This will give them a flying start in life!
In the process, you can support them and also become financially smart.
Imagine that! The whole family can join in and have fun building a fantastic new future!
To your success!

The Importance of Having Conversations about Key Topics

Hello again!
Another week has gone by, and I was reminded this week about the importance of having conversations about important topics, with family, friends, loved ones.

This was brought to my attention by Gottman and Abrams in their book called "Eight Dates".(2019). The premise of the book was about making time to have important conversations in 8 key areas, in order to create a great relationship and a lifetime of love.

When I considered this, I realised that it is not just about deepening personal relationships but the wider aspect of exploring yourself, your personal beliefs, your values, your dreams and aspirations, and living your life to the full. It is about your whole life and knowing what you want to achieve and then making plans how to get there.

The essential conversations that were discussed were:
1 Trust and Commitment2 Conflict3 Sex and Intimacy4 Work and Money5 Family and Children6 Play and Adventure7 Growth and Spirituality8 Dreams (aspirations, goals)

I think you will agree that these are all extremely important areas of life and whole industries have grown up around them.

Wealthy people understand the importance of maximising all these areas of their life. For example, when setting goals, they start out with their end goal and aspiration and then work backwards - how are they going to get there. They typically set goals to encompass all these areas of their life, because they understand the importance of not wasting time, and that to have a truly fulfilling life, they need to pay attention to all areas of life.

Whilst many people have dreams - they remain just that - a dream.
In order to realise a dream, it is important to make a plan to make it happen.

Many people then get stuck thinking that they cannot afford to realize their dream, without understanding that money is always available for the things we most want. However, they need to cultivate the mindset of the wealthy, and learn how to make money work for them, and not the other way round.
If people stopped and started to educate themselves about money - how the wealthy create and manage money, and give themselves time and freedom - they could emulate this themselves, and begin to change their lives.
This would lead to growth, time for family, time for fun and adventure, time for more intimacy and a reduction in conflict in their lives.

Their are many ways to begin this journey and if you would like to start to consider it for yourself (whatever your age), contact me to discuss.

It may be learning about how to create assets, like Ann Wilson the Wealth Chef,
It may be about learning about money in a fun way for children and teens like the FUNancial Freedom program.
It may be about rewiring your brain to overcome mental barriers such as John Assaraf`s Neurogym program.

How to be a High Achiever Part 2

How to be a High Achiever Part 2

In part 1 , I outlined the 6 steps to being a high achiever, as defined by Zig Ziglar.

The first two steps were:
1 Evaluate your self-image
2 The second step on your journey to success is improving your relationships.

Step 3 was:
3 Setting goals

I showed a You Tube video of Zig Ziglar discussing how to set goals in my last Blog.

SMART goals
I am sure that everyone has heard of SMART goals.
SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Therefore, a SMART goal incorporates all of these criteria to help focus your efforts and increase the chances of achieving your goal.
One of the reasons for setting goals in this way, is that it helps your brain to focus on what you really want. It is not enough to simply say that you want to earn more money. For your brain to truly understand and motivate you to achieve this goal, you need need to be clearer.

For example you could say "I want to achieve double my current income, within the next 2 years. I will be earning £4,00 a month by 1st July 2013. I will achieve this by setting up an online business in E commerce."

You may want to set goals in different areas of your life.
Paul O Mahony recommends setting goals in 8 different areas:
 1 Finance
 2 Social
3 Health
4 Spirituality
5 Mental health
6 Vocational
7 Familial
8 Fun

This ensures you set goals in all areas of your life and do not neglect certain areas. It is not helpful to spend all your time focussing on earning double your income and then neglecting your family or your physical health in the process.

Try and have fun with it - some goals can be small and quickly achieved, such as planning to special day out. Other goals can be bigger and longer term.

Whatever you do, do it for you and do it to help you to achieve success in your life!

Financial Education needs to start early!

Did You know that the number one fear of adults is running out of money?

Did you know that 1 in 3 workers have less than $1,000 in savings?

The education system continues to focus on academic qualifications  and does not provide our children with the financial education that they need.
If we can`t rely on schools to provide the financial education, then it is up to us to make it happen.

So where do children get a good financial education?
If 95% of adults are living in debt or scarcity, then it follows that they are not the best models.

It is good to know that there is a new online financial programme has recently been launched by Paul O Mahony and Chris Farrell.

They have called it FUNancial Freedom and it is aimed at 7 - 17 year olds.

They have a FREE webinar where you can find out all about it:
