The Law Of Attraction - Is This The Whole Story?

You may well have heard of the Law of Attraction, a concept that infers that like attracts like. But what does this mean? For me, it means that if you wholeheartedly want something (and you do something about manifesting it) chances are that you'll get it.
But does the concept really work?
As a Life Coach I am hot on forward thinking and working towards what I call 'ideals'. An ideal is simply something positive that you want to see happen - it's a vision, a mission, a purpose, a goal.
A number of years ago I compiled one sheet of paper that contained my overall life purpose, my vision, my goals and a list of projects stemming from those goals. Everything I wrote down came from deep within me, and had been an integral part of me for years.
I have been looking at that sheet of paper almost daily since compiling it without thinking too much about how the things on the sheet were going to manifest.
The reason why I refer to the sheet so often is simply because it makes me feel good. It directs me and stirs me in a positive way. In short, it represents everything I want to manifest in my life.
More recently I attended a meeting with some colleagues and we talked about developing an enterprise. As the discussions went on I realized that much of what we were talking about resembled what was on my sheet.
On returning home I looked at the sheet and laughed. Practically everything I'd written down was covered in the meeting. This happened not because I was pushing my own agenda. It happened naturally because we were all of the same mindset with similar aspirations and wanting to achieve similar life and business goals... like attracting like.
I've now realized that everything I've aspired to may come to fruition by default if our enterprise is successful.
So does this concept of attraction really work? Yes I think so!
Now you could say that nothing I've put out there has yet come to fruition. This is true. However, the meeting showed me that things are already beginning to shift.
If I hadn't produced this sheet I doubt whether the conversation in that meeting would have gone the same way. I may well have been more easily led by the others around the table, because I would have had no real perspective of my own.
By clearly articulating my purpose, vision, goals and projects, and referring to them on a daily basis, my subconscious mind is already recognizing opportunities that will help to make these a reality. That meeting (and the subsequent enterprise idea) is one of those opportunities.
I do believe, however, that there are certain caveats to the concept:
Windows of Opportunity
Once you've clearly and specifically established where you want to go, windows of opportunity begin to open for you. It is for you to grab those opportunities and immediately take the action necessary to achieve your goals. Otherwise, those windows eventually close and the opportunity is lost.
Letting Go
I also believe an important element is that you let go of the outcome. Be OK with achieving your goals and aspirations, and with not achieving them. This is because, in my view, becoming desperate about your achievements pushes them away. Becoming more relaxed about them increases the chances of you achieving them. For me it's also about recognizing that your aspirations may not always manifest in the way you envision them - and being OK with this.
Giving It Time
I also think it's important to give yourself the time you need to manifest your ideal. Specific timeframes focus and galvanise you into action. However if those timeframes are unrealistic they could have the opposite effect. You may feel that if you've not reached your goal within the timeframe you've set yourself that you've somehow failed.
Allowing yourself the time to mature with your vision and grow to become the kind of person who can make it happen may well increase the chances of you succeeding.
So yes I believe the law of attraction works if:
· You're clear and specific about precisely what you want
· You focus daily on what you want
· You take full advantage of the opportunities that show up and do the work that's necessary
· You let go of the desperation and...
· You give it time

How to Work from Home - A Business Owner’s Guide

How to Work from Home - A Business Owner’s Guide

by Janet Attard

If you're having to work from home for the first time you may face some unexpected challenges. Here are six things you can do to ease the transition and maintain your productivity.

Working from home is a dream for many people. But for business owners who have been operating their businesses from commercial space, transitioning to working from home can be difficult and stressful.
Handling workflow, struggling with motivation (yours and your employees) and not having the tools you need for the job are all challenges you may face when working from home. But like other challenges you face as a business owner, you can find ways to sidestep the problems and find productive ways to run your business from home.
Here are six top working from home tips to keep in mind:

1. Designate a specific area in your home for work

You can work from almost anywhere with a notebook computer, but if possible, it’s better to set up shop in a specific location in your house or apartment.  A desk or table and work chair are best if you have such space available. Sitting in a soft living room chair and looking down into your laptop, or reaching from your couch across to a coffee table to use your notebook computer will give you a stiff neck or back after a while.
There are both practical and psychological benefits to creating a distinct work area at home. From a practical standpoint, when you work from just one place, you can keep all the documents, notes or other items you need in one place, so you can find them quickly. That will let you be more productive working from home.
From a psychological standpoint, restricting your business activities to a single location helps you do a better job of separating work and home life and reducing distractions. It’s all too easy to spend too much time working, or on the flip side, get distracted by children, the TV, or other things. Similarly, keeping restricting your business activities to a single area will help your family to remember to leave you alone unless there’s an urgent problem.

2. Set working hours

Set specific hours to start work and stop work. To manage your business well from home, you need to manage your time. If you don’t, you may find yourself working from dawn to midnight. Alternately, you may find so many distractions at home, that you wind up spending far less time than you should on your business. Neither outcome is helpful to your or your employees. You and they both need set schedules. easy to feel so excited at the prospect of managing your own hours that you don’t do a very good job of managing them at all.
If you will need to juggle children's needs with your business needs, a good work at home tip is determine what times when you have to be available to your employees or customers, and what times of the day or night you can work without interacting with others.

3. Create rules with your family members

The excitement of you being home may cause confusion in your household. Your kids, spouse, or neighbors may assume that since you’re not at work, you aren’t working – and the distractions will come in thick and fast. Those distractions will reduce your focus and productivity and increase your stress levels.
Solve the problem by establishing some basic rules with the other people in your space. Let them know when it’s okay to engage you in conversation, and when it’s not. It’s okay to put your foot down.

4. Set a break policy for yourself at home.

If you haven’t worked from home on a daily basis before, you may end up heading in one of two directions: working so hard that you forget to take a break, or taking an extended break… all day.
The easiest way to prevent this is to assign yourself break times.  Take time when you would usually do so mid-morning. Follow your usual lunch break routine, and take a short break in the afternoon, as well. This will help you adhere to a routine. If you’re working at a desk, be sure to get out of your chair and move around during your break time.

5. Get out and about

In the same way that chaining yourself to your office desk is a terrible idea, staying within the four walls of your temporary home office is inadvisable. Cabin fever will inevitably ensue, and you’ll find yourself so restless that it’ll take you an hour to reply to a single email.
Use your lunch break to get away from your computer screen and head outside if you can, even if it’s just for a walk around the block. The fresh air and natural light will re-energize you for the day’s tasks at hand.

6. Keep in touch with your team.

Staying in touch with your team is particularly important when normal work routines and locations have changed. Email, project management cloud apps, and online conferencing and chat applications make it possible for you and your staff to communicate with one another and keep work on track without being in the same physical location.
It may feel a little like you’re pestering other members of your team, but it’s important to make up for what would usually be verbal inter-office communication. Having routines and project tracking capability will help your employees stay focused on the work they need to get done, too.

Mindset Vs Skill - How to Succeed in Business

Mindset Vs Skill - How to Succeed in Business

Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article
An online mentor of mine, Jennifer Allwood, shares that "business is 20% strategy and 80% mindset". While the "strategy" of a business is very important, to be successful you must have the right mindset about yourself, your company and your customers.
If you are a small business owner and you are looking for the "secret strategy" to change your business, you could spend all of your time in search of strategy. For example, scroll through Facebook and you will see the 100's of trainers, coaches and experts who are trying to sell you the latest "gadget" for success.
Stop enrolling in every Free Group and Free Download that you see. You are WASTING your time by chasing a shiny new object that is just not out there.
Learn the skills you need, know your audience, and stay plugged in to your industry. After that? It's all about Mindset.
How do you know if you have a mindset problem?
You keep searching for the "right" skill, the "right" training or that "right" coach that will give you the Magic Pill or Secret Sauce for success. Here are a few examples that might indicate you have a mindset problem:
  • Complain about the success of others
  • Enroll in every course/training you see on social media
  • Continue to ask for the Right Words to describe your product or what you do
  • Buy every planner in search of a better system
  • Always busy but not completing Income Producing Activities
  • Not consistent in small, daily activities
If you are searching constantly for skills, then you don't believe in yourself or your business. To succeed, you need the mindset component along with the skills.
Subconscious Mind
Your Subconscious Mind runs the show based on unfiltered information known as beliefs. Your Mind believes everything that you think. For example, when you say these things, your mind believes it:
  • Why am I so stupid?
  • I will never get that promotion.
  • I'm not very pretty.
  • I'm not smart enough.
  • I'll never be successful like "Suzy".
Each and every time you say these phrases out loud and in your mind, your brain believes the statement! Next, you must learn how to change your mindset.
How to Change Your Mindset?
If we know that changing our mindset is key, then why are we not doing it? And most importantly how do we change our mindset? It's not easy, but keep it simple and you can Change Your Mindset!
There are several recommendations that I can make for changing your mindset.
  • Personal Development?-?I highly recommend Mel Robbins and her resources.
  • Daily Affirmations! Write them on your bathroom mirror or maybe a Pinterest board.
  • Eliminate Distractions and get new friends
  • Don't allow yourself to say negative things about yourself
  • Make it an everyday habit
To get the life you want, you must let go of old limiting beliefs. Tackle the mindset beliefs that are keeping you from moving forward, keeping you from reaching your greatness!
If you have a small business, please know that you must have the skills for your business. But, you must also have the right mindset for success. You need skills and mindset!
How do you continually feed your mindset?
